Wraparound Procedure
We are currently providing a service to Ysgol Melin Gruffydd (Whitchurch) and Ysgol y Wern (Llanishen).
Si-lwli sets out to provide a service to meet the needs of our families. It has been identified that parents need a wrap around service around local schools. We can pick children up following their session at school at lunchtime and bring them back to Si-lwli to have a healthy lunch and fun filled afternoon; alternatively we can care for your child throughout the day and transport them to and from school as necessary.
The staff regards the child’s safety during transportation, and communication between themselves and the schools as very important.
Conditions of the school run: in order to provide the school run service the following conditions must be applied:
The school must be within a 5 mile radius of Si-lwli.
There must be a minimum of 2 children on every transportation in order for us to commit to them.
We will only accommodate a school if plenty of interest is shown.
A maximum of 5 children can be transported at any one time.
Due to changes in circumstances and demand, the terms of the wraparound service will be revised annually and all amendments and decisions will be made under the manager’s discretion.
The nursery staff and management are committed to the following;
Providing Parents with details of the vehicle, a copy of the policy and procedure and then asked to sign a permission slip.
Insuring the vehicle under ‘Business Class 1’ and also breakdown cover.
The vehicle will hold a valid M.O.T and will maintain the full service history.
One adult must accompany up to three children during the journey and two adults when there’s more than 3 children.
The adults should talk to the child about where they are going, how comfortable they are and also keep them happy.
Adhering to national ‘child car seat’ guidelines children will be placed on car seats that are appropriate for their weight and size.
First aid box will be present on the vehicle at all times and at least one member of the staff accompanying the children will be a first aider.
A mobile phone (no camera) will be taken on the journey and a copy of contact numbers will be given to the school.
A copy of the procedure, map route and list of children to be collected should be kept on the vehicle.
The driver must possess a full clean driving licence.
We are committed to establishing strong relationships with the schools, and are happy to share any relevant experiences and information with them. We are happy to take the children on show-around visits and liaise with the school on behalf of the parents.
Parents working in partnership:
Children must bring a bag to Si-lwli in order to place any work or letters received by the school. Please check bags every evening for correspondents. Children will be dressed in their uniform before leaving for school but not on their return unless otherwise stated by parents.
We would appreciate any important calendar dates received by the parents from the school, such as, inset days, trips, half term dates etc. This information can impact on the staffing necessary at Si-lwli.
If your child is going to be absent from Si-lwli or school we would appreciate as much notice as possible.
If you decide to change the sessions required then please inform us in WRITING with one months notice.
Wraparound Care Costs:
All Day £37
Morning Pick Up £29 (we collect your child at lunchtime and they spend the day with us).
Afternoon Drop Off to School £25 (your child attends Si-lwli in the morning and we take them to school following lunch).
