We offer Welsh language care within a small homely environment
between the hours of 8am and 6pm. The nursery is located on a ground
floor flat opposite a wonderful nature park where we often visit
the ducks and birds. The nursery has access and private use of a
safe and secure garden.
Si-lwli
is registered to care for 14 children aged 2-4yrs with the CSIW.
Small groups of 4-5 children to one member of staff promote warm
interaction between children and staff and aid positive social and
personal development in a secure and caring environment.
Rachel Knight our Manager attended Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen before
attending Bridgend College to complete a CACHE diploma in Nursery
Nursing. Rachel has worked in a wealth of childcare establishments
before joining Si-lwli in January of 2005. She now works alongside
a team of caring and professional team who are referred to as Aunty.
We are registered with the Local Education Authority (LEA) and
accept Nursery Vouchers, which allows children to receive two and
a half hours free education. The nursery is then subject to ESTYN
inspection. Currently we are involved with the foundation Phase
Pilot scheme which emphasise learning through play, offering children
choices and developing their independence. The Pilot scheme concentrates
on the following seven areas of learning:
• Personal Social Development and well-being
• Language, literacy and communication skills
• Mathematical development
• Bilingualism and multi-cultural understanding
• Knowledge and understanding of the world
• Physical Development
• Creative Development
Please log on to any of these useful Websites for further information

We have four individual rooms which offer a variety of fun opportunities
to develop the seven areas of learning. The children are actively
involved in their learning to stimulate the children’s confidence
and independence.
The back room provides a wealth of imaginary play for the children
where they can pretend to be fire fighters, nurses, shop assistant,
post man pat and so on!!
The largest room of all is designed to offer children an opportunity
to use all their senses to explore and get messy.
Our front room offers the children a musical corner,
a wealth of exciting toys to discover and puzzles to solve whilst
studying the outside world passing by
We are closed during the Christmas week, which will not be charged
for, and bank holidays. As a good practice initiative we close the
nursery for 3 days per year to allow in house staff training. Parents/carers
will be given a minimum of 2 months notice for these dates, and
fees for the days will be fully reimbursed

IMPORTANT DATES
Staff training day, Si-lwli closed Thursday October 30th.
Christmas ’08 Closed from 4:00pm on Wednesday 24thDecember until the 2nd of January.
I hope everyone had a lovely summer and is ready for a new term, the older children have all left to go to school and a number of children have moved downstairs. Parents evenings will be arrange during the year.
There are a few staff changes for the new term, aunty Dawn has joined the team from Whitchurch to cover Rhiannon and Annas maternity leave. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Claire for her help over the summer but to also welcome her permanently to the team as she will be working one day a week.
We would like to congratulate to Aunty Rachel and her husband Dave on their marriage. They are currently relaxing and enjoying their honeymoon in Egypt. Congratulations to Anti Nia and her husband Richard on their wonderful news as they expect their first child. Nia will be going on her maternity leave after Christmas and Theresa will be returning to Whitchurch from her leave in January.
We have arranged a staff training day for Thursday the 30th of October. This will mean that the nursery will be closed on this day and you will not be charged if your child usually attends on a Thursday.
We will be closing at 4:00pm on Wednesday the 24th December (Christmas Eve) until Thursday the 1st of January. As we return for only one day we would like to ask parents wether they would be happy to close for an additional day on Friday the 2nd January. There would be no charge for this day. There will be a table on the door and we would be grateful if you could indicate wether this is a problem for you.
The operational plan is currently being updated and will be on the notice board for you to read by the end of September. During the coming month we will also be distributing quality review questionnaires. We would be grateful if these could be completed and returned as soon as possible in order to complete an evaluation report of our service.
It is with regret we have to announce and give prior notice of a fee increase. Due to the increase cost of food, fuel and the rise in minimum wage this year the overall running costs have increased dramatically. The new fees below will come into force as of January 2009.
Full Day £34.50
Half day £20
